Fence Repair in Amarillo, TX

We repair wood, vinyl, chain link and metal fences in Amarillo and the nearby Panhandle towns. Text us a photo of the damage and we can usually say whether it is a repair or a replacement before we visit.

Wind does most of the damage we repair in Amarillo. A six foot cedar fence is a solid wall, and a day of 50 mile an hour gusts works every post back and forth until the weakest one snaps at the ground. One broken post puts its load on the next, which is why a whole run can go over in one afternoon. We start a repair by pushing on every post along the line, not only the ones that are down, and we tell you how many are still firm.

Hail is the second cause. Large stones split dry pickets, dent metal rails and crack older vinyl that has gone brittle in the sun. Hail damage is usually spread along the whole side that faced the storm, so we count boards and panels and write the estimate in a form you can send to your insurer. We do not decide what your policy covers. Your insurer or agent does that.

The third common call is a gate. Alley gates and wide trailer gates are heavy, and the hinge post carries all of it. When that post loosens in dry, shrinking soil, the gate drops and drags. We reset or replace the hinge post in concrete, square the frame, add a brace where it helps and move the latch so it catches. If a repair grows into a rebuild of a full side, the new section has to meet the city's current height rules, so we check those first.

Fence repair in Amarillo: common questions

Several posts snapped in the wind. Can you reuse my panels?

Often yes. If the rails and pickets are sound, we set new posts and hang the same panels again. If the wood is grey, split and brittle from years of sun, new posts under old boards is money spent twice, and we will say so.

Do I need a permit to repair a fence in Amarillo?

Usually not. The City of Amarillo says most residential fences 8 feet tall or less do not need a permit, though they must still meet zoning height limits. The exception is a pool or spa barrier. Repairs to one need a permit at any height.

Can you do a quick fix so my dog stays in until the full repair?

Yes, tell us when you call. We can brace the standing posts and close the gap with a temporary panel, then come back for the permanent repair. Mention a pool in the yard too, because an open pool barrier moves to the front of the list.
